Visiting Writer Series - Abigail Chabitnoy

Description: The Saint Vincent College English Department will welcome Abigail Chabitnoy, C’09, as the first speaker in its Visiting Writers Series for the spring semester on Wednesday, March 13, at 5 p.m. in the Luparello Lecture Hall in the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion on the Saint Vincent campus. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Chabitnoy will also announce the student winners of the annual Ragan Poetry Contest, for which she is this year’s judge, at the event, and the three winning poets will read their work to the audience.
Chabitnoy is a poet of Unangan and Sugpiaq descent and a member of the Tangirnaq Native Village in Kodiak, Alaska. She received her MFA at Colorado State University, where she was an associate editor for Colorado Review. Her poems have appeared in Hayden’s Ferry Review, Tin House, Gulf Coast, Pleiades, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, Nat Brut, Red Ink and Mud City. Her first full length book of poetry, How to Dress a Fish, will be published in February of 2019 by Wesleyan University Press.
