Harvest Candlelight Tours - 2018
Organization: Compass Inn Museum
Description: Come celebrate the bountiful harvest with us at the historic Compass Inn Museum. Experience the inn's rustic charm while adorned with natural autumn accents, cheery glowing wood fires, and the flickering of candles in every room. One of your stops during your tour will be the 1820's cookhouse. Step back in time with Compass Inn Museum's masters of open hearth and beehive oven cookery. There, experience the sights and smells of scrumptious food being prepared using recipes and ingredients inspired by the cuisine of the 18th and 19th century. At the end of your tour, relax by the warm crackling fire glowing in the 1862 Room's Rumsford fireplace while toasting to a good harvest with a cup of hot mulled cider and a cookie. "This is a great way to enjoy and celebrate the harvest season with your family," said Malori Stevenson, Innkeeper and Program Coordinator of Compass Inn Museum. "From the cresset lined walk to the delightful aromas coming from the cookhouse to the beautifully decorated inn, visitors can experience the warmth of an old fashioned country Thanksgiving." Tickets for adults are $10, senior $9, children 6-17 $6 and members, active military and children 5 and under are free. Reservations are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to reservation time; tours begin every 20 minutes. Compass Inn Museum is located at 1382 Route 30 in Laughlintown, PA, three miles east of Ligonier.
