Ligonier Diamond Park Grand Opening Celebration

Description: The celebration will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Late afternoon and evening events will celebrate the history of Diamond Park and completion of a $3.5-million renovation, the site's most significant upgrade in half a century.
Featuring music from the Ligonier Valley High School Marching Band, the grand opening celebration will begin with a dedication ceremony and proclamation from the refurbished bandstand. The program will be emceed by former WJAC-TV news anchor and Ligonier Township native Bill Brown, who also serves as the voice of Fort Ligonier Days.
Borough and Chamber officials will take part in a celebratory ribbon-cutting, a time capsule installation and a cider toast as a thank you to donors, local merchants, customers and visitors for their support of the Diamond renovation. Local historian and former journalist Ralph Bennett will provide the keynote address.
Musical entertainment will be featured from 4 to 9 p.m., and there will be caricature and balloon artists along with other family-friendly and children's activities. Many local merchants will celebrate the day by keeping their stores open through the evening. Ligonier Valley firefighters will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks; free popcorn and snowcones will also be available.
