Description: Bibiana Boerio, an executive with a diverse international background in business, education and government, will be the main speaker and will be honored with the presentation of a Presidential Medal of Honor at the annual spring honors convocation of Saint Vincent College at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica.
Boerio has served as a senior automotive and financial services leader, as chief of staff for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and as interim president of Seton Hill University. A native of Latrobe, she lives in Unity Township and serves as a member and officer of several non-profit educational and community service organizations.
She currently serves as a member of the boards of directors of the United Way of Westmoreland County and Adelphoi USA; member and chair of the advisory council of Greensburg Central Catholic Junior Senior High School; vice president and treasurer of the Wimmer Commons Homeowners’ Association; member of the Greater Latrobe School District Art Conservation Trust; and member of the Lourdes University Board of Trustees.
At the academic convocation, Saint Vincent College’s highest student honor, the President’s Award, will be presented to one member of the graduating class in recognition of academic accomplishments, leadership ability and community service which best reflect the College’s mission as a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college.
Outstanding senior students will be recognized for academic excellence in their major fields of study and special awards will be presented by the Student Government Association for service to the college community.
Two faculty members will also be honored with the Quentin Schaut and the Boniface Wimmer Faculty Awards.
Prior to the convocation, a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for the expansion of the Latimer Family Library will be held at the site at 11 a.m.
Following the honors convocation, the College will present the 15th Annual Academic Conference from 2:30 to 7 p.m. in the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion to recognize the completion of research projects and creative work of students in all academic fields. Students will make presentations and display posters of their work throughout the Pavilion. Admission is free and open to the College community as well as the general public.
