Tire Disposal Program
Organization: Westmoreland Cleanways
Description: Clean up the earth, one tire, hundreds of mosquitoes at a time! Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling, in partnership with the Westmoreland Conservation District's West Nile Virus Program, is offering a special discount on tire disposal on Saturday, April 14 at the Recycling Center, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon. Customers will receive a $1 discount off the disposal fee for each tire, on or off rim, turned on on that day only*.

Waste tires are a major form of litter and a nasty mosquito breeding source. A single tire collecting stagnant water will breed hundreds of mosquitoes that could transmit West Nile Virus and other mosquito-borne illnesses. Properly disposing of waste tires reduces the risk of spreading West Nile Virus and other diseases, cleans up the earth, and reduces the risk of tire fires and other sources of pollution.
