Driveway Workshop - 2017
Organization: Westmoreland Conservation District
Description: Melting snow, heavy spring rains and flooding can wash out unpaved driveways, farm lanes, and access roads.
To help solve this problem, the Westmoreland Conservation District and Indiana County Conservation District will host a workshop called After the Storms: How to Repair and Maintain Gravel Driveways and Unpaved Lanes. This workshop will show participants how to make cost-effective repairs and prevent repeat problems in the future, saving both time and money.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Loyalhanna Township Municipal Building, 220 Fifth Street, Saltsburg.
According to Chelsea Walker, watershed specialist for the Westmoreland Conservation District and facilitator of the workshop, “Quick fixes might seem to work, but actually will cost more money in the long run. Managing water before it gets to the driveway is key because that will reduce maintenance, improve driving surface, save money, and help the environment.”
Brooke Esarey, watershed specialist with Indiana County Conservation District added, “Many landowners have a farm lane, gas well road, or unpaved driveway that could use some attention. In this workshop, we will show how to identify problems and come up with long-term solutions to prevent those problems from becoming a real headache.”
Cost to attend the conference is $5 per person. Registration is required and the deadline to register is Friday, March 17. Go to www.wcdpa.com to register and pay online or to download a registration flyer that can be mailed in with payment.
